Send mention alerts to Linear

RedReplier watches Reddit, Hacker News, X, Bluesky and other sources for your keywords and sends the best new mentions as a digest. With the Linear integration, each mention in a digest becomes an issue in a Linear team, so your team can assign, discuss and close it like any other piece of work.

What you need

  • A RedReplier workspace with at least one active keyword.
  • Mention alerts turned on in Alerts. They are off by default, and no digest goes out while they are off.
  • An Admin or Editor role in the RedReplier workspace. Other roles can see the channel but cannot connect or change it.
  • A Linear account in the Linear workspace that should receive the issues. Any Linear member can approve the connection. You don't need to be a Linear admin.

How often digests go out depends on the Frequency you set in Alerts. Faster frequencies depend on your plan, and slower ones are available on every plan.

Connect Linear

  1. In RedReplier, open Alerts.
  2. Under Where to send alerts, find the Linear card and click Connect.
  3. RedReplier sends you to Linear. Choose the Linear workspace and approve access. RedReplier asks for permission to read your Linear workspace, so it can list your teams, and to create issues.
  4. Back in RedReplier, the Pick a Linear team window opens. Choose the team that should receive the alerts and click Save team.

The card now says which team and Linear workspace receive the issues. Each RedReplier workspace connects to one Linear team.

What RedReplier creates in Linear

Every digest goes to each channel you turned on, Linear included. RedReplier picks the best mentions of the digest window, up to 5, and creates one Linear issue for each. Each issue has:

  • the mention's title as the issue title
  • a link to the mention
  • the source, such as Reddit or Hacker News
  • the keyword that matched
  • the relevance score
  • when RedReplier found the mention

RedReplier writes the issue text in the language of the member who connected Linear. It never files the same mention twice in the same team, even when a delivery is retried.

Send a test issue

Click Send test on the Linear card. RedReplier creates a test issue in the picked team, so you can check that alerts arrive. Delete it in Linear once you have seen it.

Change the team

Click Change team on the Linear card, pick another team and click Save team. The next digest goes to the new team. Issues already created stay where they are.

If the picked team is deleted in Linear, the team picker says so and asks you to pick another one.

Disconnect Linear

Click Disconnect on the Linear card. RedReplier revokes its access in Linear and stops sending issues there. Issues it already created stay in Linear. Email and your other channels keep working.

Troubleshooting

The card says "Reconnect needed". RedReplier can no longer create issues in Linear. Usually someone removed the RedReplier app in Linear, or the account that connected lost access to the team. Click Reconnect and approve access again. If you reconnect the same Linear workspace, RedReplier keeps the team you picked.

The card asks you to pick a team. Linear is connected but no team is picked yet. Click Pick a team.

The team list is empty. The Linear account that approved the connection is not a member of any team. Ask a Linear admin to add it to a team, or reconnect with another account.

No issues arrive. Check that Mention alerts is on, that your keywords are active, and look at the Frequency. A digest only goes out when its window has new mentions.

For anything else, write to contact@redreplier.com with your workspace name and a short description of the problem.
