To send Reddit mentions through Zapier, connect the RedReplier app at zapier.com/apps/redreplier/integrations with a redreplier_ token that has the Admin or Editor role, then start a Zap with the New Mention trigger. It fires on each new match of your keywords on Reddit, X, Bluesky, Hacker News or Facebook, with a relevance score from 0 to 100. The app also has four actions (Create Website, Add Keywords, Update Mention Status, Explain Mention) and three searches (Find Mentions, Count Mentions, Find Website).

A Zapier Reddit Zap built on Zapier's own Reddit app fires on new posts in a subreddit or new posts that match a search, and it fires on all of them. The RedReplier app for Zapier fires later and less often: RedReplier watches Reddit, X, Bluesky, Hacker News and Facebook for your keywords, scores each match from 0 to 100 against your product description, and the trigger only passes on what clears the score you set.

This guide covers the connection, the trigger, the four actions, the three searches, and four Zaps you can copy. We build RedReplier, and everything below matches version 1.0.0 of the Zapier app.

The short version: open zapier.com/apps/redreplier/integrations, connect RedReplier with an Admin or Editor token from redreplier.com/api-tokens, and start a Zap with New Mention and a Minimum relevance score of 70.

How is the RedReplier app different from Zapier's Reddit app?

Zapier's Reddit app watches subreddits and searches through your own Reddit account and posts on your behalf, while the RedReplier app reads mentions that RedReplier already matched, scored and stored. One is a pipe to Reddit, the other is a filtered feed of conversations about your product or category.

Zapier's Reddit app is the right pick for publishing to Reddit or watching one subreddit you already know. For catching a person asking for a tool like yours in a thread you have never heard of, the matching and scoring has to happen before Zapier gets the data. Our RedReplier vs Zapier page goes deeper on that split.

What do you need to connect RedReplier to Zapier?

You need a Zapier account, a RedReplier workspace with at least one website and its keywords, and a workspace API token. You do not need a Reddit developer app or any code.

Every public RedReplier plan, Starter, Pro and Business, includes API access, so the Zapier app works on all three. Facebook pages and groups are monitored on Pro and Business; Starter returns Reddit, X, Bluesky and Hacker News mentions.

How do you connect your RedReplier account to Zapier?

Connect your RedReplier account to Zapier with a workspace token. Create one at redreplier.com/api-tokens, pick the Admin or Editor role, copy the value that starts with redreplier_, and paste it into the API token field when Zapier asks you to connect RedReplier. Zapier tests it with GET /workspaces and labels the connection with your workspace name.

The role matters. Every RedReplier API call, reads included, needs the redreplier.write permission, which Admin and Editor hold. A token issued under another role fails the first step of the Zap with a 403.

A token belongs to one workspace. An agency with one workspace per client connects RedReplier once per workspace, and the connection label tells them apart in the Zap editor. If Zapier reports "RedReplier rejected the API token", the token was revoked or its creator left the workspace; create a new one and reconnect.

What can the RedReplier Zapier app do?

The RedReplier Zapier app has one trigger, four actions and three searches.

TypeNameWhat it does
TriggerNew MentionFires when a new conversation matches one of your keywords
ActionCreate WebsiteStarts monitoring a site, with optional keywords
ActionAdd KeywordsAdds keywords to a monitored website
ActionUpdate Mention StatusSets a mention to New, Approved or Rejected
ActionExplain MentionReturns why a mention scored as it did, plus a drafted reply
SearchFind MentionsLists mentions newest first, with filters
SearchCount MentionsReturns the number of mentions for a set of filters
SearchFind WebsiteReturns a monitored website and its keywords

New Mention takes five optional filters: website, sources, keywords, minimum relevance score (0 to 100) and Include low relevance. Leave website and sources empty to watch everything in the workspace. Each mention arrives with 15 fields you map into later steps: Mention ID, Website ID, Source, Matched keyword, Title, Content, URL, Author, Subreddit or Facebook group ID, Status, Relevance score, Relevance reason, Suggested reply, Published at and Found at.

Create Website takes a URL, an optional name and a keyword list. RedReplier reads the site and writes the product description it scores mentions against. Add Keywords adds phrases to an existing website. On both, keywords past your plan's quota wait as pending until you free a slot or upgrade.

Find Mentions and Count Mentions take the trigger's filters plus Statuses, so a Zap can ask how many approved mentions a website has or pull the newest rejected ones. Find Website returns nothing found, not an error, when the website no longer exists.

A small team talking over laptops in an office, the kind of group that gets high-intent mentions sent to its chat channel.

Zap 1: send high-intent mentions to Discord or Microsoft Teams

RedReplier delivers its own digests to email, Slack, Telegram and Notion. This Zap covers the chat tools outside that list.

  1. RedReplier, New Mention with Minimum relevance score set to 70.
  2. Discord, Send Channel Message, or Microsoft Teams, Send Channel Message.
  3. Map Relevance score, Title and URL into the message, and Relevance reason on a second line.

Each mention fires the Zap once, as it happens, which is the difference from RedReplier's digests: those send the five best mentions of a window as one message, on a cadence from every 15 minutes to every 24 hours. If your team already lives in Slack, the built-in Reddit alerts do this without Zapier tasks.

Zap 2: draft a reply and add it to a review sheet

This Zap puts each strong mention and a drafted reply in a Google Sheet, where a person reads both before anyone touches Reddit.

  1. RedReplier, New Mention with Minimum relevance score set to 80.
  2. RedReplier, Explain Mention with Mention set to the Mention ID from step 1.
  3. Filter by Zapier continues only when Explanation ready is true.
  4. Google Sheets, Create Spreadsheet Row writes the Mention ID, URL, Relevance score, Relevance reason and Suggested reply.

Treat the Suggested reply as a first draft. Most subreddits remove a reply that reads like an ad, and the Reddit self-promotion rule post covers where that line sits.

Zap 3: mark a mention approved when someone replies

This Zap closes the loop from Zap 2, so the RedReplier mentions page shows which threads your team already answered.

  1. Google Sheets, New or Updated Spreadsheet Row watching a Replied column.
  2. Filter by Zapier continues only when Replied is yes.
  3. RedReplier, Update Mention Status with Mention set to the Mention ID column and Status set to Approved.

Approved mentions drop out of the New Mention trigger for good, because it only fires on mentions whose status is New.

Zap 4: start monitoring a new client the day they sign

This Zap is for agencies. When a client signs, RedReplier starts watching their site and category without anyone opening the dashboard.

  1. A trigger from your CRM or intake form, such as Typeform, New Entry or HubSpot, New Deal in Stage.
  2. RedReplier, Create Website with the client's URL, name and a first keyword list, such as their brand name and two competitors.
  3. Gmail, Send Email tells the account manager the site is live, with the Website ID from step 2.

Add more keywords later with Find Website and Add Keywords. The Reddit keyword monitoring page covers which phrases bring in buyers and which bring in noise.

The four Zaps at a glance
1
Chat alerts. New Mention at score 70, then a Discord or Microsoft Teams message.
2
Review sheet. New Mention at score 80, Explain Mention, a Filter, then Google Sheets.
3
Status sync. An updated sheet row, a Filter, then Update Mention Status to Approved.
4
Client onboarding. A CRM or form trigger, Create Website, then an email.
Every Zap reads or files scored mentions. None of them posts to Reddit.

How often does the New Mention trigger check for mentions?

The New Mention trigger polls RedReplier on your Zapier plan's polling interval, and each poll asks for up to 500 mentions RedReplier found in the last 24 hours. Zapier removes the ones it has already seen by Mention ID, so a mention fires the Zap once.

The 24-hour window counts from when RedReplier found the mention, not when it was posted. A Reddit thread from last week that RedReplier finds today still reaches the Zap. When you load samples in the Zap editor, the trigger drops that window so you see real mentions to map, not an empty test.

The trigger asks only for mentions whose status is New. A mention you approve or reject in RedReplier, or with Update Mention Status, never fires the Zap afterwards.

The life of one mention in the New Mention trigger
RedReplier finds a mention
Status is New
Poll looks back 24 hours
Zapier checks the Mention ID
Zap fires once
Approved or rejected stays out
A mention you approve or reject never reaches the Zap afterwards.

When does Explain Mention return no reply?

Explain Mention returns Explanation ready as false, with an empty reason and reply, when RedReplier takes longer than 25 seconds on a mention it has not explained before. The action stops waiting there so the Zap step does not fail on Zapier's time limit.

RedReplier keeps every explanation on the mention once it is written, so a later Explain Mention or Find Mentions call for the same mention returns the reason and the Suggested reply. That is why Zap 2 has a Filter on Explanation ready: a row with an empty draft is worse than no row.

What are the alternatives to Zapier for RedReplier mentions?

RedReplier also works with n8n, with Claude and other chat assistants through its MCP server, and with any script through its REST API. All of them take the same redreplier_ token.

Pick Zapier when nobody on the team wants to run a server and your other tools already have Zapier apps. n8n runs on your own server and has no per-task pricing, and the n8n Reddit guide covers the RedReplier node and its trigger. The agents page has the MCP setup, and the API introduction lists every endpoint the Zapier app calls.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a Zapier integration for Reddit monitoring?

The RedReplier app on Zapier, at zapier.com/apps/redreplier/integrations, monitors Reddit for your keywords and starts a Zap on each new mention. It also covers X, Bluesky, Hacker News and Facebook, and every mention carries a relevance score from 0 to 100.

Can Zapier filter Reddit posts by relevance?

The RedReplier New Mention trigger takes a Minimum relevance score from 0 to 100, and RedReplier applies it before Zapier counts a task. Mentions without a score are left out, and Include low relevance adds the ones below the website's minimum.

Do I need a Reddit account or API key to use the RedReplier Zapier app?

The RedReplier Zapier app needs no Reddit account, Reddit API key or Reddit developer app. RedReplier reads Reddit and stores the matches, and Zapier only needs one redreplier_ token with the Admin or Editor role.

Which token role does the RedReplier Zapier connection need?

The RedReplier Zapier connection needs a token with the Admin or Editor role. Every RedReplier API call needs the redreplier.write permission, which only those two roles hold, so a Contributor or Viewer token fails with a 403.

Can Zapier post replies to Reddit with RedReplier?

The RedReplier Zapier app never posts to Reddit. Explain Mention drafts a reply, and a person on your team reads it and posts it on Reddit themselves. Zapier's own Reddit app creates comments, but sending a draft there unread is how accounts get removed from subreddits.

Does the Zapier app catch mentions on X, Bluesky and Hacker News?

The RedReplier Zapier app returns mentions from Reddit posts, Reddit comments, X, Bluesky, Hacker News, Facebook and Facebook groups. Facebook monitoring is on the Pro and Business plans, and the other sources are on every plan.

Which RedReplier plans work with the Zapier app?

The Zapier app works on Starter, Pro and Business, because every public RedReplier plan includes API access. Facebook pages and groups are monitored on Pro and Business only. Starter returns Reddit, X, Bluesky and Hacker News mentions.

Why does Zapier say RedReplier rejected the API token?

The token was revoked, or the person who created it left the workspace. Create a new token at redreplier.com/api-tokens with the Admin or Editor role, then reconnect RedReplier in Zapier.

Can I connect more than one RedReplier workspace to Zapier?

Each token belongs to one workspace, so you connect RedReplier once per workspace. An agency with one workspace per client does exactly this. The connection label shows the workspace name, which tells the connections apart in the Zap editor.

Why did my Zap fire on a Reddit thread from last week?

The trigger's 24-hour window counts from when RedReplier found the mention, not from when it was posted. A thread from last week that RedReplier finds today still reaches the Zap. Zapier then removes repeats by Mention ID, so the Zap fires once.
