What are good alternatives to Loom for creating quick training or walkthrough videos?

95% match
We’ve been using Loom for internal explainers, reviews, and quick product walkthroughs, but the limits on the free plan are becoming a real issue. The free version only allows 5-minute recordings, which is barely enough for any proper product explainer. There’s also a 25-video limit, and we hit that without even trying. I’m not against paying for tools, but Loom’s $18 per month plan hasn’t justified itself for us. The app still crashes, Loom AI is buggy and lags often, and the moment our UI changes we have to re-record everything from scratch. We’re looking for an alternative that has reasonable pricing, stable recording, and ideally a way to update content without redoing the entire video. What have you switched to, and how has it worked for you?

Has anyone found a decent browser-based screen recorder?

90% match
I’ve been testing a few options lately because I didn’t want to install anything on a work machine, and surprisingly one of them actually works pretty smoothly, records screen + downloads instantly without signup. Only downside is it’s pretty basic compared to full apps (no advanced settings), but for quick clips it’s kind of perfect. Curious what others here are using when you just need something fast?

Can someone recommend a free or very cheap Loom alternative? I need to do a few short videos a month communicating with a colleague in a different time zone.

I have used Screencastify for many years, but my subscription is up for renewal. For those who make many instructional videos, what do you recommend? I also use Mote to add audio to Google Slides and Google Forms. Is there an easy alternatibe to this tool? Thanks!

Anyone using free online tools for screen recording?

90% match
I'm working on a short tutorial video for a class project, and I don’t want to install any heavy software on my laptop. I’ve tried using QuickTime (I'm on Mac), but I need something that also records voiceover and possibly webcam.
Has anyone here used free browser-based screen recorders? Are they safe and smooth to use? Looking for something quick and easy, ideally with no watermark. Recommendations appreciated!

Recommendations for a Screen Capture Program with Application Window Specific Recording

88% match
Hi all, I know that that mac can record with QuickTime and command+shift+5 however I'm looking for a little different functionality. I need to be able to lock the recording to a specific window. Google Meet can do this and so can Screencastify (only 5 min. unpaid), but unfortunately QuickTime cannot. However, unlike google meet I need to be able to record without system audio and only audio from the mic. Again Screencastify can do this but 5min paid limit is too short. Please note: I am not looking for a window sized portion of the screen capture, I mean only records that screen as Google Meet and Screencastify do where even if something is blocking it, it still records whatever was on the selected screen without invasion from other apps. Are there any alternatives to Screencastify that can accomplish this?

Screen recording tool wanted $60 just to include my webcam in exports

85% match
I was recording a demo video using an auto-zoom screen recorder. Everything worked until export. Turns out I needed a $60 subscription just to include my own camera in the video. Paying $60 just to use my own webcam felt ridiculous. I started building a simple browser-based recorder to avoid this. Curious how other founders record SaaS demo videos. What tools are people using?

Loom alternatives

We implemented video feedback in our remote team. We expected good results, but Loom crippled our progress. Loom didn’t offer anywhere near the benefits it advertised. The recording was choppy and we had to download its application to use it, and it still crashed a lot. These two user experience issues weren’t as bad as quality of life issues. Firstly, Loom’s free version only allows a 5-minute recording that's so insufficient, especially when working in a remote team environment. It only allows for 25 videos before requiring the premium purchase. We've ran through this 25-video limit without even trying. I’m not opposed to buying premium subscriptions, but it has to make sense. At $12.50 a month, Loom doesn’t offer value i expected. We’ll still experience app crashes. The premium version removed the 25-video restriction, and $12.50 a month is too expensive, we're still growing. Anyone got an alternative they can recommend? I need one really bad.
