How do you all track billable hours? I'm going insane with clockify

90% match
I'm freelancing part-time (dev work) and tracking hours for invoicing is driving me crazy. clockify feels bloated for what I need; I literally just want to click "start" when I begin working and "stop" when I'm done. What do you use? Is there something dead simple that just... works? Preferably desktop app so I don't have another browser tab open.

Alternatives to Clockify?

90% match
I am using clockify to automatically track time based on application window names. It works great but it has horrible and unpredictable performance reductions. Looking for a free or one time payment alternative.
Thanks!

Menubar time tracker for freelancers, which one?

85% match
I'm looking for a time tracker that mainly lives in the menu bar and allows me to log and track billable hours. I really don't like or want an automated tracker, I just want to manually create a client, tasks per client and track that. I don't mind a paid option but I not a subscription. Export options would be great.
I'm basically looking for a drop-in Clockify alternative with a pay once or lifetime price.

Juggling multiple clients is killing my billable hours. My manual time tracking isn’t working.

85% match
I'm a freelance dev juggling about 4-5 active clients, and I've hit a wall with my current system for time tracking, it is a mess of a simple desktop timer and a spreadsheet. The problem is the context-switching. I'll be deep in a React component for Client A, and then a quick 5-minute emergency for Client B pops up on Slack. I jump over, solve it, but completely forget to switch the timer. I'm doing this a dozen times a day. At the end of the week, my timesheet is a disaster of guesswork, and I'm positive I'm losing a ton of billable hours. It's making me feel super unprofessional. I need to upgrade to a real system that's built for this. I'm looking for something that makes it dead simple to switch between client projects and can generate clean reports for invoicing without a lot of admin work. I've been looking at a few options. I know Toggl is popular, but I've also heard good things about tools like Monitask and Harvest for agency/freelance work. For the other freelance devs here, what tool have you found that handles multi-client project tracking the best?

Which time tracking software are you using?

85% match
Hi, I’ve been using Clockify for a while now, but I’m starting to feel like it’s missing some key features or just isn’t as intuitive as I’d like. It gets the job done, but I’ve run into a few issues with syncing and reports being clunky. I’ve heard some folks recommend Monitask, especially for remote teams or anyone needing more than just a stopwatch. From what I gather, it tracks app usage, offers activity reports, and even has optional screenshots, if you're into that. Curious what others are using right now, any solid alternatives to Clockify that strike a good balance between features and not being overly invasive? Thank you

Freelance Time Tracking / Billing - Hubstaff Alternative.

85% match
I am a freelancer and have a small agency of a couple of long-term developer friends. I have been using Hubstaff for a couple of years to track and manage projects. Overall it's a solid product. However, a bit pricey for me and does not do automatic billing. Does anyone use anything else? I have looked at hellobonsai , which seems interesting and has a ton of features, but unfortunately a little weak on the reports and does not set the price paid to agency members. Nor does it allow for different billable hourly rates per freelancer. Any help from any other devs / small agency folks.

How to track specific documents for an app?

82% match
Hi everyone. I am new to this time tracking app. I used clockify before and it did exactly what I needed, but for some reason it keeps on crashing so I am looking for an alternative. I like activity watcher but I can't get it to do this really simple thing. What I want is to simply track how much time I spend on each document using a specific app (photoshop). In the summary page it shows top window tiles, but none of photoshop documents are listed there. In the top application window it shows photoshop, which is ok, but I am more interested in the time spend on a specific document, because I work on different files (for different clients) on the same day. Could someone help me out how to achieve this? Thank you!

Alternatives to Harvest after insane price increase

82% match
Were you hit with Harvest's insane price increase? This has left many with almost no choice but to seek other options. Let us know here what you find. I remember when I was originally looking for time tracking and invoicing software, my other finalist was Freshbooks, but it was more expensive at the time. Same with Quickbooks time tracking. These may be better alternatives now. What do you think? Personally, I would need Quickbooks Online integration and online client payment options (Stripe, etc.)

Any good alternatives for Clockify or time tracking software

65% match
I'm looking for something like Clockify. My use case is that I want to track my focus times. I just want a start button and a stop button. Then when I hit stop, it should record the time from start. And then at the end of the day show me my focus hours. That is it. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions. Also, I prefer desktop GUI applications that have a tray icon. If this is not the right place to ask for this, please let me know where I can ask stuff like this.
