Hey everyone,
Honestly feeling a bit defeated today and could use some advice from people who have been through the zero-to-one grind.
I recently launched my product on Product Hunt. I prepped for weeks, tried to do everything by the book, and... it barely moved the needle. Got a handful of visits, maybe a couple of sign-ups, but absolutely nothing like the traction or feedback loop I was hoping for. It feels like if you aren't already backed by a massive network or launching a viral AI wrapper, you just get buried.
Right now, budget is incredibly tight, so paid ads are out of the question. I’m trying to figure out how to get those crucial early eyeballs and initial users without burning cash.
I know a lot of people recommend submitting to free directories and alternative launch platforms to build early momentum (and domain authority), but the sheer number of them is overwhelming, and I don't want to waste hours shouting into a void if half of them are ghost towns.
For those of you who have launched a SaaS or side project recently: Which free directories or alternative platforms actually drove real traffic or high-signal users for you?
I’ve heard of places like BetaList, Uneed, 1000Tools, and MicroLaunch, but I’d love to know what is actually worth the time investment right now in 2026.
Any advice, lists, or even just some reassurance would be a massive lifesaver. Thanks in advance.

Sadly having to go full Karen mode with @ProductHunt I’ve had maybe 10 real users leave reviews for @posterly_ and Product Hunt is showing.. 1. Support from this guy is non existent. What’s the alternative for this garbage company? G2? Any others? Jokers man https://t.co/12tHr76SZC

How to get my first 100 users
90% matchKeyword was found in submission title. I'm about to launch a travel planner app for iOS after a couple of months of development. The product is in a good spot, but now I'm facing a problem that's completely different from building it: getting the first 100 real users (and ideally validating whether anyone is willing to pay). I'm not looking for "scale to 100k downloads", just practical things that actually worked when you launched your first app. Where would you focus your time if you were starting over with your first app? Reddit? TikTok/Reels? Product Hunt? Apple Search Ads? Something else? Curious to hear what gave you the biggest ROI in the very beginning, especially if your app was in a niche. Thanks!

Product Hunt launch was a total dud. Where do I go from here?

Have you used a directory submission service for AI SaaS?
90% matchI’m building an AI product and planning to use directory submissions for initial SEO.
There are tons of AI/SaaS directories out there, and I really don’t want to spend time figuring out which ones are legit vs low-quality. I’d rather avoid platforms that don’t have real traffic or could hurt SEO.
Looking for a service that:
Submits only to high-quality directories
Focuses on platforms with actual traffic
Avoids low-value backlinks
If you’ve used a solid submission service would appreciate recommendations. Just trying to do this right without wasting time early on.
Edit: I have used BoringLaunch and the whole process felt super smooth. my domain rating improved after 2-3 weeks. planning to use it again for my other products too.

What’s actually the best directory submission service right now?
88% matchUpdate: Thanks for all the feedback. After digging a bit more, StartupSubmit looked like one of the more legit directory submission services since it’s manual done-for-you rather than automated bulk submissions.
I also noticed many positive founder feedback and case studies shared on X. I’ve been trying to get more visibility for my startup and keep seeing people recommend “directory submissions” for early traction. The problem is… most lists online feel outdated or spammy. Some questions I’m trying to figure out: Are directory submission services still worth it in 2026? What’s the difference between cheap Fiverr gigs vs legit services? Has anyone here actually seen traffic or SEO improvements from it? Is manual submission really better than automated tools? I found a few options while researching (SaaSHub listings, random Fiverr sellers, and a couple standalone services), but it’s hard to tell what actually works vs what’s just marketing. Would love to hear real experiences: Which service gave you actual results? How long did it take to see any traffic or rankings? Anything to avoid? Not trying to promote anything — just want honest feedback before I spend money on this. If you’ve tested this recently, your insights would help a lot

Anyone here actually tried a directory submission service? Did it help or not?
85% matchI’ve been trying different ways to get early traction for my SaaS, and directory submissions keep popping up in conversations.
Not talking about shady SEO stuff more like listing your product on places like Product Hunt, Indie Hackers, SaaSHub, and similar sites.
I submitted to a handful manually and did notice a few small wins, some traffic, a couple backlinks, and faster indexing. Nothing crazy, but not useless either.
The problem is it’s pretty time consuming. Every site has its own form, login, rules, etc. After doing it for a while, I started wondering if using a directory submission service makes more sense.
But I’m honestly not sure if those services are worth paying for, or if it’s better to just keep doing it myself slowly.
So just curious from people who’ve actually done this:
Did you ever use a directory submission service?
Did it make any real difference?
Or was it mostly a waste of money?
Would appreciate any honest experiences.

Why is my DR still 0? Looking for some advice on my backlink profile.
80% matchI've been working on my website for a while now, and I'm a bit stuck on why my Domain Rating (DR) is still sitting at 0 in Ahrefs.
I've been trying to build some links, and to understand what I might be doing wrong, I pulled the data for a number of other domains to see how their metrics compare. I'm trying to figure out what the key drivers are for a higher DR.
Here is the data I pulled:
||
||
|Domain|DR|Dofollow ref. domains|Dofollow linked domains|Traffic|Keywords|Dofollow links|
|rankva.com|62|1,155|52|1|106|0|

|filterhn.com|0.2|34|2,953|0|1|1|
|bkmk.ing|0.1|1|9,622|0|0|2|
Looking at this data, what do you think I should be focusing on?
Any insights or advice you could offer would be hugely appreciated! What should my top priority be to start moving the needle?
Thanks
