I'm a small business owner in need of a website.
I've bought my domain and I've started on WordPress but I'm finding it very hard to make it work. currently using Elementor Hello and Woocommerce.
I need a shop option, a newsletter and an "about me" section, so in truth it should be fairly uncomplicated.
I have a design background so the design isn't the problem, functionality and editing is.
What can I use that is easy to use, can be published to my domain and added to as my shop hopefully expands?
Are Squarespace or Wix realistic options? Or are there other (affordable!) web builders I can use?

Simple shop front for creators - any alternatives to Shopify Starter / Big Cartel / Payhip?
88% matchHi all! Looking for a way to set up a very simple site/shop with
a shop front (grid of products)
a product page per product with a redirect to a 3rd party site for the actual checkout - in my case Amazon
Something like this https://v7mysz-i8.myshopify.com/.
I like the Shopify setup above but the redirect requires custom code which then means an expensive plan. Other alternatives I've come across are Big Cartel and Payhip. Waiting to hear back if custom code is possible with them.
Any other alternatives you can recommend? It's for a side project so ideally not more than 10$ / month. Thanks!

I know everyone recommends Shopify, but are there other good ecommerce platforms?
85% matchI’ve been running a store on Shopify for about two years now. There are definitely things I like about it, but also quite a few issues. I’m thinking of starting a new store and maybe trying a different platform this time.
Shopify looks convenient on the surface, ready-made templates, lots of features, everything kind of “works.” But honestly, even small changes can be annoying. Like if I just want to tweak something simple such as the navigation bar color, sometimes it feels like I’m fighting the system. And the cost it’s really not cheap. I’ve probably spent over $5,000 a year just on Shopify itself, and when you add all the plugins, it gets kind of crazy.
What frustrates me the most is the forced updates. There were times when something updated and suddenly my product page layout changed, like the “add to cart” button shifting position, and support wasn’t very helpful.
Some friends in the same space recommended WordPress, Wix, and Genstore. From what I see, WordPress is more flexible but might be too complicated for me. Wix looks easier and pretty flexible too. Genstore seems to have some newer features, but I don’t really know much about it yet.
Would really appreciate if anyone who has used these platforms can share their experience, or if there are other good options I should look into. Thanks!

BigCartel Alternatives
85% matchI’m looking for e-commerce building websites similar to BigCartel. The only problem is that for $10, you only get 50 products and with +$10 extra, you get 500. Are there any websites that offer 100 or so products for $10 because 50 seems too low. I also like BC other features so are there any similar sites?

Should I switch to Shopify from Squarespace?
80% matchHi! I’m starting a small ecommerce business soon and was looking for some advice from people who have used both Squarespace ecommerce and Shopify. I had planned to start on Squarespace, mainly because I’ve learned the platform already and can navigate it fairly well. However, I know that SS is not primarily for ecommerce, and I am wondering if I should just put the work in up front to learn Shopify and launch my biz from there. (Basically, I want to avoid having to make the switch in the future, as it would be more complicated to move my site from SS to Shopify when it’s already up and running).
My business probably won’t have more than 50-75 (if that) items at a time, so I’m not creating some gigantic complex inventory system. I do plan on shipping abroad eventually (from the US). I’m not sure yet what traffic and order quantity will be like, but I (of course) hope it does well, at least 300-500 orders a month? Again, no clue though if this will actually pan out 😅
My two questions are these:
For a relatively small, uncomplicated business, do you think SS ecommerce is good enough for the traffic and number of products I am aiming for? Or should I just start with Shopify from the beginning?
What are some tangible, practical differences between SS and Shopify that have made Shopify much better for you? Even down to the smallest things, since we all know small differences can make a big impact in terms of convenience and efficiency of running a shop.
Thanks so much for reading and for your help!

Best simple, E commerce website builder? Comparing Shopify, Wix, and WooCommerce
80% matchI’m trying to pick the best simple, E commerce website builder for a small shop and started looking at Shopify, Wix, and WooCommerce. I already have a domain and want something straightforward with low transaction fees, but I’m not sure which one balances ease of use with long-term flexibility. Has anyone found that WooCommerce is worth the extra setup compared to Shopify or Wix? How much do transaction fees and monthly costs really add up between these platforms?

Big cartel vs square vs Squarespace
80% matchThoughts on switching from big cartel to square or square space? Square doesn’t integrate with big cartel to accept payments and I wanted to have square as an alternative to stripe/PayPal. Square space integrates with stripe, PayPal, afterpay, and square. Square integrates with afterpay.
I really want to add the after pay option to my website to boost sales. I’m looking for alternatives to stripe because of stripe locking/closing people accounts. I chose big cartel because of the pricing and ease of building the site.
Thoughts?

ISO BigCartel Alternative
78% matchHello all, I’m currently in search of a BigCartel alternative to switch my online store to. I enjoy their features and app, but I’m aiming to add more non-store pages to my website, and their features in customization are lacking.
I’m currently looking into Squarespace yet I saw their shop features are lacking, and also Shopify but that’s a little over my budget at $39 a month. I currently pay $15 a month for Bigcartel and would like to stay near there or up to 25 a month.
Thanks 🫡
