TL;DR
8 min readX Pro, formerly TweetDeck, is X's desktop web dashboard that shows several timelines side by side as columns, including search columns and List columns. X's help centre lists access to X Pro only under the Premium+ tier, which starts at $40 a month or $395 a year on the web in the United States. It does not run on mobile, and X's help pages do not describe alerts for new matches in a column, so someone has to keep the screen open and watch it.
What is X Pro?
Formerly called TweetDeck, X Pro is X's desktop web dashboard that shows several timelines side by side as columns, so one screen can watch a keyword search, a List and your mentions at once. X's help centre describes it as a way to "view multiple timelines in one easy interface" and says the current version adds "a full post composer, advanced search features, and new column types." If you already run searches by hand on x.com, X Pro is the same search pinned into a column that keeps refreshing, which makes it the tool for watching a topic instead of checking it.
X relaunched the product globally under the X Pro name, and the help article still labels it "formerly known as TweetDeck." The app lives at pro.x.com and sends you to the standard X login first.
Who can use X Pro, and what does it cost?
X Pro is a Premium+ feature. X's "About X Premium" page lists "Access to X Pro" under the heading "Only for Premium+ Tier," with the description "View multiple configurable timelines simultaneously which can refresh in realtime, advanced search, add contributors and admins to your account, and more with X Pro." The Basic and Premium tiers do not include it.
| Premium+ price on web | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|
| United States | 40.00 USD | 395.00 USD |
| United Kingdom | 31.00 GBP | 313.00 GBP |
| France, Germany, Spain, Italy | 38.00 EUR | 377.00 EUR |
| Canada | 56.00 CAD | 560.00 CAD |
| Australia | 62.00 AUD | 621.00 AUD |
Those are the web prices from X's pricing table, before tax and payment fees, and X says "Prices may vary by location." Three other access rules matter before you pay:
- Premium Business and Premium Organizations accounts, and their affiliates, "will receive Premium+ included with their main subscription," so a company already on Premium Business has X Pro without a second plan.
- X states "we aren't offering free trials of Premium at this time," so there is no trial of X Pro either.
- Subscriptions are non-refundable "unless required by law," including cases where "certain subscription features are temporarily or permanently unavailable."
Check the Premium page again before you subscribe, because X writes that the features included in Premium "are subject to change at any time."

Which column types does X Pro offer?
X Pro offers ten column types in its help article, and three of them do most of the monitoring work: Search, Lists and Notifications. The rest are for reading and posting.
| Column | What X says it shows | Monitoring use |
|---|---|---|
| Search | "A specific search term." | Watch a keyword, a brand name or a buyer question |
| Lists | "Create or connect a list you already follow." | Watch a hand-picked set of accounts |
| Notifications | Reposts, likes, mentions and new follows for one account | Catch direct mentions of your handle |
| Profiles | "Find a profile and see what they've been up to." | Follow one competitor or one prospect |
| Communities | The Communities you belong to | Watch a niche group you joined |
| Explore | The Explore tab and trends | Spot a topic before it peaks |
| Home | The home timeline of one account | General reading |
| Bookmarked posts | Posts you saved | A shortlist of threads to answer later |
| Messages | Direct Messages for one account | Replies that moved to DMs |
| Scheduled | Your scheduled posts | Publishing, not monitoring |
The "About X Pro" page adds that the Column Creator can "Search X" from inside a new column and lists profile, topics, explore, events and bookmarks as column types. It also says each column can show "top posts or latest posts first." For monitoring, set search columns to latest first, because a top-first column puts the most-engaged posts at the head and pushes a fresh question with no likes down the column.
How do you set up an X Pro column to monitor a keyword?
Build one search column per keyword group, then group the columns into a deck. X's help centre documents each step below.
- Go to pro.x.com and log in with your own X account. X recommends an account "that is not shared with other individuals."
- Select Add column in the navigation bar and choose Search.
- Type the query. Wrap a product category in quotes and exclude the noise, for example
"crm for agencies" -hiring -job. - Set the post order to latest first.
- Repeat for each keyword group: your brand, each competitor, and the problem phrases buyers type.
- Drag columns by the six-dot icon at the top to reorder them, with the highest-intent column on the left.
- Group related columns into a Deck, which X describes as "a new way to group columns into clean workspaces."
X's help pages do not list which search operators a Search column accepts. The column runs X's own search, so start with the syntax in the X advanced search operators list and confirm each one returns results inside the column before you rely on it. The same boolean search operators logic applies: quotes for phrases, a minus sign for exclusions, and parentheses to group OR terms.
A keyword column fills with junk fast when the brand name is also a common word. Add exclusions the moment you see a pattern, using the approach in negative keywords: each exclusion removes that pattern from the column for as long as the column exists.

How do Lists work as monitoring columns?
A List column shows only posts from the accounts on that List, which turns X Pro from keyword monitoring into account monitoring. X's help article says you can "create or connect a list you already follow," so a List someone else curated works as a column too.
Three Lists cover most monitoring jobs:
- Competitors. Their official accounts, founders and support handles. You see launches, outages and pricing changes the moment they post.
- Customers and prospects. Accounts that have asked about your category before. A complaint from one of them is a reply opportunity.
- Voices in your niche. The accounts whose threads draw your buyers into the replies.
Search columns and List columns answer different questions. A search column finds strangers saying your keyword. A List column watches known accounts whatever they say. Run both, side by side, in the same deck.

What can X Pro not do for monitoring?
X Pro shows matches only while you look at it. None of the four X Pro help pages mentions a notification, email or push alert when a new post lands in a search or List column, so a buyer question posted overnight waits in the column until someone scrolls to it.
Other documented limits:
- Desktop only. X states "Pro is not available on mobile" and requires a viewport wider and taller than 500 pixels.
- X only. Columns show X posts. Reddit threads, Hacker News comments and Bluesky posts need separate tools.
- No ranking. A latest-first column orders by time and a top-first column by engagement. Neither separates a buying question from a joke that uses the same word.
- Teams in flux. The Teams feature lets an owner add up to 200 team members as admins or contributors without sharing a password, but the "About X Pro" page says X is "still redesigning a new Pro Teams experience."
- Version drift. If you switch between the old and new versions of Pro, changes made in one "will not carry over to the other," and copying search, List and profile columns into the new version is a one-time option.
Teams that need X data in their own system go to the X API instead, a separate product with its own X API pricing that X Pro does not include.
How does RedReplier compare with an X Pro search column?
RedReplier searches new X posts every 6 hours for the keywords, phrases and competitor handles you add, leaves out replies and reposts, and puts the matches into one ranked column, which is the job an X Pro search column does by hand. The RedReplier Twitter monitoring feature scores every match by buyer intent, so a post asking for a tool recommendation sits above idle chatter. Matches land on the RedReplier dashboard after each search, and email alerts go out as digests on a cadence you set per keyword, from hourly to daily. The same monitor covers Reddit, Bluesky, Hacker News and Facebook groups. RedReplier drafts a reply with AI, and you review, edit and post it yourself; it never posts automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Is X Pro the same as TweetDeck?
Yes. X's help centre calls X Pro "formerly known as TweetDeck" and describes a relaunched version with a full post composer, new column types and Decks. Search, List and profile columns from the old version can be copied into the new one once.
Is X Pro free?
No. X's Premium page lists access to X Pro only under the Premium+ tier, which starts at $40 a month or $395 a year on the web in the United States. X is not offering free trials of Premium.
Does X Premium include X Pro?
Only the Premium+ tier does. The Basic and Premium tiers do not list X Pro among their features. Premium Business and Premium Organizations include Premium+, so those accounts get X Pro as well.
Can you use X Pro on a phone?
No. X states that Pro is not available on mobile and that the browser viewport has to be wider and taller than 500 pixels. A narrow window shows a notice instead of the dashboard.
Can X Pro send alerts for a search column?
X's X Pro help pages do not describe any alert for new posts in a search or List column. The column refreshes on screen, so someone has to keep it open and read it. For alerts on new keyword matches, you need a monitoring tool outside X Pro.
How many columns and accounts can you add to X Pro?
X's help pages do not state a column limit. You can add several X accounts through Account Switching under your profile icon, and the Teams feature lets an account owner add up to 200 team members without sharing the password.
What happens to old TweetDeck columns when you switch to X Pro?
X's help article offers a one-time option to copy search, List and profile columns into the new version, and says you can download your data in X settings. If you switch back and forth between the two versions, changes made in one will not carry over to the other.
Do you need a company account to get X Pro through Premium Business?
Premium Business and Premium Organizations accounts, and their affiliates, receive Premium+ included with their main subscription. A company already paying for Premium Business gets X Pro through that plan, with no second subscription required.
Can you get a refund on Premium+ for X Pro?
X's Premium help page states that all subscriptions are non-refundable unless required by law, including cases where certain subscription features are temporarily or permanently unavailable. The one partial exception is an upgrade to a higher tier: on iOS you get a prorated refund of the old subscription, and on the web the unused amount becomes credit.
Should a search column show top posts or latest posts?
Set the column to latest first for monitoring. A top-first column orders by engagement, so it puts the most-engaged posts at the head and pushes a fresh question with no likes further down, which buries the exact posts a monitoring column exists to catch.
